SUPPORT THE “MAKE IT IN AMERICA ACT,” SB 908
The Make it in America Act, Senate Bill 908, sponsored by Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-MI), would close loopholes in the current Buy American Law (that was passed in 1933). Right now, federal government agencies are required to buy USA-made products whenever they can. However, when Made in USA goods are not available in sufficient quantities or quality or if the items will be used overseas, the government may buy non-USA goods.
The Make It In America Act requires agencies to submit a report to Congress on the amount they are spending on foreign-made goods. Call your senator today and ask him or her to sign on and support the bill.

5 SIMPLE THINGS YOU CAN DO TO BUILDBUY USA
#1. Vote with Your Wallet: Make a difference every time you open your wallet – choose the USA brand product over the import. Just look at the label to see where you product is manufactured.
#2. Let Stores Know When You’re Happy: We talk a lot about protesting when jobs and products go overseas, but do we ever thank store managers for selling Made in USA products? When you find something you have been looking for, stop off at the customer service desk and leave word that you appreciate they stock Made in USA products. Let them know that their customers are paying attention and would appreciate more of the same.
#3. Don’t Be Shy About Letting Managers Know When You’re Not Happy: On the other hand, let store managers know when you can’t find USA made brands, and insist they pay attention to where their products are being produced. Oreo cookies made in Mexico? USA made flags produced in China? No way! Consumer action can make the difference.
#4. Post a Review of a USA Product on Social Media: sharing a meme about why you oppose outsourcing is one thing. But letting your social network know that you walk the walk when it comes to buying USA and encourage your friends to do the same is a positive way to make change.
